Polygon 02016

Lawrence Malstaf (BE/NO)

With the kinetic installation Polygon 02016, the Belgian artist Lawrence Malstaf plays with the rules of space and geometry. Made up of articulated tubes hanged from thin metal cables, this impressive structure is extremely light despite its size. It is subtly animated by a mechanism of motors and counterweights that makes it move.

The mathematical grace of Polygon 02016 lies in the way it offers the audience to apprehend the space in a playful way. It adjusts its shape and its balance, creating a geometrical landscape that moves in a surprisingly natural and organic way.
