Conference of trees
Pantha du Prince (DE)
Discover the last creation of one of the greatest German electronic music composers, Pantha du Prince (DE) for the first time in Rennes.
Pantha Du Prince distinguished himself by exhibiting his minimalist creations, and adding ambient sounds to his music. With Conference Of Trees, a scenic project created in Hamburg, he is back leading an ensemble of percussions and instruments made from several kinds of wood, in order to introduce a direct link with the forests that acted as sources of inspiration for him. Even if electronics stay his base medium, it serves here a pantheistic and poetical ode to natural elements, coming with a magnificent immersive scenography, where sound and visual arts are summoned into a outstandingly ecological project.
Pantha Du Prince reaffirms his reputation of peerless producer who -thanks to his remarkable sense for harmonies- manages to mix avant-garde music with sounds from electronic clubs. In this case, the instruments were partly made by his own hands ; they are the result of a strong interest in materials and a will to find out the sound features of several varieties of wood. He will be musically supported by an ensemble of percussions composed of Håkon Stene and Bendik Hovik Kjeldsberg, who were also part of his last project, Pantha Du Prince & The Bell Laboratory, as well as Manuel Chittka, the drummer of Messer. The jazz musician Friedrich Paravicini, who has already worked on the last release of Tocotronic, took also part in the arrangements.
