David Lazar is an artist and researcher working at the intersection of computer development and artistic creation. His work explores the place of technology in our daily lives, showing that it is never neutral but shapes how we see the world, how we act, and how we organize ourselves collectively.

Through installations, web projects, and code-driven works, he addresses themes such as automation, surveillance, and data extraction, transforming them into sensory, visual, and spatial experiences.

His work also takes a critical look at artificial intelligence and digital infrastructures, considering their social, political, and environmental impacts. He favors sober, local approaches such as permacomputing, aligned with practices that seek to reduce the footprint of technology and make it more transparent.

His overall approach combines research and experimentation, with the aim of proposing other ways of understanding and questioning today’s technologies and their effects on our lives.

David Lazar holds a master’s degree in computational arts from Goldsmiths, London, and has completed residencies at Tate Modern and HKW Berlin.
