Antipode
The Antipode MJC Rennes association is responsible for the Antipode associative and political project.
The Antipode is a Youth and Culture Centre whose overall project is based on two main activities: local activities and contemporary music. The association also has an important partnership with the Antipode Library.
The Antipode builds its project around strong values: popular education, fundamental human rights, cultural rights, social and solidarity economy. The association develops its project in a progressive way, through the logic of equality, sustainable development and democracy. Its pedagogical, artistic and cultural project is imbued with these values, and works around people in the logic of emancipation, citizenship, openness, artistic and cultural diversity.
The Antipode’s associative project is a citizen and militant project, with a predominant place given to voluntary work in all its forms, with the individual and his or her lifelong development at the centre of the actions undertaken.
The Antipode gives pride of place to artistic creation, emerging artists and amateur practices, and articulates its artistic and cultural programming in new dedicated spaces: The Grand Stage with 900 seats, The Club with 250 seats, The Creation Workshop with 120m2, The Agora, The Forum, 3 rehearsal studios, multiple practice spaces.
The Antipode is also involved in cooperation and complementarity, in partnership with local, regional, national and even international players. The Antipode’s artistic and cultural project has been certified by the State (SMAC – Scène de musiques actuelles).
