Émilie Brout & Maxime Marion have been working as a duo since they met at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. They explore themes closely linked to the digital world and new technologies. For several years, the duo has been developing work centred on the immateriality of images and online communities, which has been exhibited at venues such as the Palais de Tokyo and La Gaîté Lyrique.
The artists are interested in the way the web influences our imaginations, behaviours and desires. Drawing on popular internet aesthetics, the duo highlights the close links between intimacy, desire, commodification and technology in online spaces.
With s3lf.tech, presented in 2026 at the Maintenant festival, Émilie Brout & Maxime Marion continue their research into digital cultures, online identities and contemporary forms of self-representation.
The artists are the winners of the first Ambivalences Open call, an interregional cooperation programme (Brittany, Normandy and Pays de la Loire) for artistic creation in the digital environment.
