Judgitzu

With Les Cartes Postales Sonores, ethnomusicologist Julien Hairon, aka Judgitzu, has created a collection of recordings of traditional soundscapes and music from local and indigenous populations around the world. After having spent the last six years travelling through Asia, Oceania and Africa, Judgitzu unveils Umeme and Kelele: two original tracks, recorded on the Ugandan label Nyege Nyege Tapes during his residency in Tanzania.

His futuristic techno universe is inspired by Singeli, a frenetic music coming from the ghettos of Dar Es Saalam, an important city on the Indian Ocean coast, which mixes both beats-electro and traditional music samples, but in a more refined and minimalist style. A result that illuminates clubs, backrooms and festivals from Kampala to Salford.
