There is no such thing as total silence. It is possible to experience great silence, but it cannot be absolute. Where do all these sounds around us come from? Are we able to distinguish between the sounds of human beings and their activities and those emanating from our natural environment?

For this project, artist Félix Blume spent 2 months at Les Ardoisières school, exploring the local landscape through the medium of sound. The artist, pupils, teaching staff and partners set about transcribing their environment by listening to it, breaking it down and recording it.

Together, they listen to the land and the sounds that populate it, paying particular attention to living things. By documenting these sounds, they draw up a sound inventory of the commune, presented in the form of an interactive map.
