Fernande, Cecile, Natasha Pirard

Ambient, Field recording

Fernande, Cecile is a live performance created by the Belgian artist Natasha Pirard. Inspired by her mother and grandmother, the album draws on childhood memories, the traces left by the passage of time, and the effects of Alzheimer’s disease. Vocals, field recordings, synthesiser and violin weave together an ode to her maternal lineage. Fernande, lost at the age of seven, whose warmth remains a guiding light. Cecile, a constant presence, a guide through difficult times. Memories emerge in fragments, like images gradually resurfacing: her grandmother’s garden in full bloom, the mulberry trees bathed in light, the song of her favourite bird that runs through the album. Warm, tactile layers, where ambient sounds brush against the voice and the instruments. The album was written and recorded by Natasha Pirard, produced and mixed by David & Stephen Dewaele of Soulwax/2manydjs at DEEWEE studio.
