La Planète d’Au-Dessus de la Terre, Elly Oldman
Illustration | Synth-pop | Augmented reality and video games
With La Planète d’Au-Dessus de la Terre, Elly Oldman has created a transmedia adventure exploring environmental issues and eco-anxiety. Combining an immersive installation, illustrations and an augmented reality experience, the project follows Mattie and her robot Mirligros as they battle Platastique and the ‘plastimonsters’, symbolic figures representing plastic pollution. The artist’s world blends humour, science fiction and pop culture references into a rich, colourful aesthetic designed for all ages.
The work combines graphic design with interactive digital elements to tackle environmental issues in an accessible and playful way. The animations and gameplay mechanics extend the narrative and encourage exploration of various eco-friendly initiatives.
Through this new creation, Elly Oldman continues her exploration of hybrid narrative forms and the artistic uses of immersive technologies. True to her approach, she presents an interactive work in which drawing, imagination and digital tools become means of raising awareness and fostering sharing.
La Planète d’Au-Dessus de la Terre is an original creation by Elly Oldman in collaboration with video game studio Friday Afternoons and musician Alexis Lumière, supported and produced by Electroni[k], in co-production with the City of Pont-Audemer, Théâtre de l’Éclat, Festival Le Noob, L’Aparté, and with the support of the CNC, Rennes Métropole as part of Créativité Croisée, and Montfort Communauté.
