Fanion Locomotion, Pinaffo & Pluvinage
Kinetic and Textile Art | Automata
With Fanion Locomotion, Pinaffo & Pluvinage transform the chapel space into a kinetic landscape composed of automata and moving fabrics. Consisting of numerous mechanically animated pennants, the installations create a series of shifting forms in the air, characterised by vibrations, undulations and rotations. The textile elements interact with one another in a continuous choreography where mechanical movements and visual compositions echo one another.
Through this installation, Marion Pinaffo and Raphaël Pluvinage explore the relationships between programmed movement, perception and visual poetry. Behind the apparent simplicity of the mechanisms lie interplays of rhythms and transformations inspired as much by automata as by systems of visual communication or the physical principles of movement.
Whether interactive installations, experimental objects, scenography or playful machines: for several years now, the duo has been inventing hybrid forms that make complex phenomena accessible through hands-on manipulation and direct experience. Based in the Tarn, Pinaffo & Pluvinage have developed a practice in which research, fabrication and the repurposing of technology take centre stage.
