A festive highlight, the Opening Night of Maintenant offers the chance to discover the festival’s many facets in a single evening. A trail of installations, performances, live music and DJ sets between the Théâtre du Vieux St-Étienne and Les Ateliers du Vent: immerse yourself in the 25th edition of Maintenant!

A tribute to imagined skies, Lukas Truniger & Bruce Yoder

The performance celebrates the forces behind the rainbow: the sun and the atmosphere. By bringing imaginary optical phenomena to life in a fictional sky, it invites us to look at our own sky in a new light, so we can better appreciate its beauty.

The experience is accompanied by a live soundscape, inspired by solar and planetary dynamics, oscillating between ambient layers and rhythmic patterns.

Sugar Tantine (DJ SET)

Afro-Caribbean music

A DJ of Caribbean origin and founder of the LAKAY nights, Sugar Tantine celebrates Afro-Caribbean music in all its vitality. Spanning shatta, bouyon, dancehall, rap and Afro house, her sets create explosive, unifying and resolutely inclusive dance experiences. Drawing on her Creole roots and her queer identity, she brings a purely infectious spirit of freedom, warmth and togetherness to the stage.

Alexis Lumière (LIVE)

A genre-bender with roots in rock and punk, Alexis Lumière changed course when he first encountered analogue keyboards and drum machines.

He now explores electronic sounds with an obsession for synthetic aesthetics and vintage equipment. From his cult projects dedicated to the Casio sound to the creation of his own label, C:\MUSIQUE.EXE, he crafts a unique brand of retro-electronic music that is both nostalgic and resolutely visionary.
