Jérôme Vassereau (Pneu, La Colonie De Vacances, Binidu, Francky Goes to Pointe à Pitre… ) and Julien Sénélas (Funken, Awards, The Fox Heads …), two musicians from Tours from the Cocktail Pueblo collective, propose a version of In C, the work of Terry Riley created in 1964 and considered as the first composition of the minimalist music movement, known as repetitive. This version “for 11 oscillators”, performed with two modular synthesizers, is an original reading of this piece made up of 53 short musical phrases. The composer’s instructions encourage any kind of formation to bring the score to life and state “Electronic Keyboard are welcome”. A clear and open invitation to make this work, often played by orchestras, an electronic rereading. Soia, graphic designer, illustrator, scenographer, joined the two musicians from the beginning of the project to propose a visual and playful representation of this evolving score. The synthesizers are in synch with animations drawn by Soia which represent each of the 53 musical cells of the score. Animation-score animated thus live according to the interpretation of the musicians to which are superimposed visual animations live from Soia (projected manipulation of papers, colors, …). A vinyl with a booklet containing the visuals of Soia is planned in a beautiful edition for the 18/09/2020 on the label Un je-ne-sais-quoi.
