Does It Still Matter by Noémi Büchi is an immersive audiovisual experience that invites audiences to think about the impermanence of our world and the enduring power of music.
This live show is based on the album of the same name, released in May 2024. It marks the culmination of a series of works exploring the physical nature of sound, following on from Matière and Matter. In Does It Still Matter, Noémi Büchi questions the state of our world, which has become increasingly fluid and immaterial.
The Franco-Swiss artist mixes synthesiser textures, crystalline sounds and intense noises, while maintaining a pop-like musical structure. Her maximalist electronic approach challenges our perception of time, creating a universe where past, present and future merge.
With a backdrop of environmental disasters and global crises, Does It Still Matter encourages us to meditate on impermanence and the power of sound, leaving behind persistent echoes and sonic fragments that resonate long after the performance.
The visual material of the live show was created by Gabriele Ottino, an Italian visual artist, composer and film-maker. Founder of the SPIME.IM collective, Gabriele Ottino explores the boundaries between electronic music and multimedia art, experimenting throughout Europe. The choreography is performed and imagined in collaboration with Swiss actress Joséphine de Weck.
