Bivouac, Bérengère Amiot

Bivouac is an interactive installation that explores the links between landscape and memory. Created by Rennes-based artist Bérengère Amiot, the work brings to life, in the twilight, a fragile world nourished by memories of her childhood garden. The landscape is no longer merely observed: it is manipulated, transformed and replayed as many times as one wishes, like a memory that is summoned in order to be reconstructed.

“There are landscapes that shape us, places that become etched, season after season, into our memory. Fragments of nature which, here and now, reveal themselves.” Through this work, Bérengère Amiot explores how memories of landscapes shape the way we see. The experience of landscape is an experience of the self: it involves both what is perceived and the very act of perceiving.

Guillaume Fournier’s soundscape accompanies this journey, which lies somewhere between a poetic installation and an intimate narrative. Bivouac offers a poetic exploration of what links memory to the places we inhabit.
