Aho Ssan

Aho Ssan is Niamké Désiré’s artist name, based in Paris. After studying graphic design and cinema, he began to compose electronic music and create his own digital instruments. Shortly after, he won the France Foundation Television Prize for his soundtrack for the film De Ingha Mago in 2015. 

In 2020, Aho Ssan released his first album Simulacrum. Based on the concepts developed by Jean Baudrillard, he navigates through the notions of inclusivity and equality in society, in relation to his own experience of growing up black in France. In 2022, he released a collaborative album Limen with the artist KMRU and joined the SHAPE+ artist platform. Aho Ssan will release his next solo album Rhizomes on Nicolas Jaar’s Other People label.

He has also worked on several IRCAM-related projects and has been featured in various institutions across Europe and the United States such as the Lincoln Center (New York), La Maison de la Radio (Paris), CTM (Berlin), MACBA (Barcelona), Muziekgebouw (Amsterdam) and the Krakow Philharmonic (Krakow). His music has been acclaimed by various media such as NPR, Pitchfork, Resident Advisor, Liberation and Les Inrockuptibles.
