BlockSmog, Guillaumit

Graphic fresco | Augmented reality and video games

With BlockSmog, Guillaumit has created an interactive artwork exploring air pollution, developed in collaboration with Electroni[k]. The piece takes the form of a triptych mural, combined with an augmented reality app featuring several mini-games.

The artwork also incorporates a sensor that measures air quality in real time at the venue where it is on display. This data directly influences the game mechanics and alters the on-screen experience. Through this interplay between graphic design, interactive technology and environmental data, BlockSmog playfully explores the links between human activities, air pollution and ecosystems.

BlockSmog is an art and science project by Guillaumit, supported and produced by Electroni[k], in co-production with Stereolux and Rotondes Luxembourg, and with the support of the CNC – Centre National du Cinéma et de l’Image Animée and Rennes Métropole as part of the Créativité Croisée programme.

Guillaumit was selected as a winner of the first call for projects by EFFEA (European Festivals Fund for Emerging Artists), in partnership with the KiKK Festival in Namur (BE), the LEV Festival in Gijón (ES) and the Festival Maintenant in Rennes (FR), and was also selected for the artist residency programme at the Institut Français du Maroc in Casablanca (MA).
