Kinetic sculpture | Sound | Biomechanics, S-F

Thomas Besset has developed a practice centred on kinetic and sound sculpture. By combining traditional craft techniques with advanced technologies, such as hammered copper, 3D printing and moulded silicone, he creates animated works that mimic the functioning of living organisms: they breathe, pulsate and appear to be artificially kept alive.

Drawing inspiration from the complex forms of bones, organs and vocal apparatus, his sculptures and installations bring together the organic and the mechanical in a world of biomechanical, hybrid and chimeric creatures. More recently, his research has turned towards wind instruments and organ-building, exploring the sonic properties of materials to the point of blurring the boundaries between artwork, engineering prototype and musical instrument.

The exhibition is presented in partnership with Basalt, sons & curiosités.
